SpanishBackpack.COM is a service provided by Conversa (www.conversa.com), a school in Costa Rica dedicated to teaching Spanish as a second language since 1975. The team behind SpanishBackpack.COM has been teaching Spanish as a second language for over forty years, first through an immersion program in Costa Rica, and later through live, online classes.
Andy Kaufman (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Andy basically grew up in a Spanish training environment. His dad, Dave Kaufman, founded Conversa, a Spanish immersion program that has been operating in Costa Rica for the past 40 years. In 2003, after an engineering degree (Boston U) and an MBA (George Washington), an engineering position at Intel and a consulting job with KPMG, Andy joined the Conversa team full time.
In 2007, he led the development of ConversaConmigo, and online Spanish training program that has since served thousands of students. This is what eventually led Andy and his team to create SpanishBackpack.COM.
Irene Orlich (email@example.com)
Irene has been a part of the SpanishBackpack project since the idea first came about. Throughout the initial development phase, Irene's focus was always on how to keep the student engaged. She's been instrumental in the overall design of the system, always looking out for ease of use. Irene is another Georgtown grad.
